Puducherry launched the “Zero COVID by February 28 ” Campaign to end COVID – 19
In Puducherry a campaign ha been launched titled ” Zero COVID by Feb 28 ” to ensure that there is no COVID – 19 cases by the end of Feb 2021, in the Union territory.
Under this campaign, all those who had come in to contact with people infected with corona virus would be finished and provided treatment, so that the further spread of pathogen could be prevented.
The overall caseload in Puducherry was 39448, while 38,533 had recovered so far, leaving 258 active cases.
While this region reported five new cases, Karaikal one and Mahe two cases.
A total of 6.06 lakh samples had been tested so far, Kumar said.
The fatality and recovery rates in the Union territory were 1.67 % and 97.68% respectively.
The Director also said 5.644 health care workers and 309 front line workers have been vaccinated against COVID -19 since the launch of the drive last month.
The coordinated effort to achieve the goal had been geared up and the campaign was launched on Saturday to free Puducherry of COVID -19 , he told PTI.
More than 80 lakh people have been given their first dose of the COVID -19 vaccine in India so far.
Yanam region located in Andhra Pradesh, continued to have nill COVID -19 cases.
