UAE first female astronaut : Noura al – Matroushi has been named as first ever female astronaut

The United Arab Emirates on April 10, 2021 ; named the next two astronauts in the country’s space program also UAE first female astronaut.

Noura al – Matroushi has been named as first ever female astronaut of the country, who has been selected out of 4,000 other applicants in the UAE.

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the autocratically ruled country’s Vice President and Prime Minister, announced the names of the two astronauts on Twitter.

He identified Noura al – Matroushi as the UAE’s first female astronaut.

The announcement gave no biographical information about her or her male counterpart , Mohammed al – Mulla.

Although, Noura al – Matroushi works as an engineer at the Abu Dhabi based National Petroleum Construction.

Al – Mulla serves as a pilot with Dubai police and heads their training division.

The two will undergo training at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
