Rawalpindi’s KRL Stadium renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Stadium

The KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Stadium to praise the service of the former fast bowler of Pakistan on 15 March 2021.

Shoaib Akhtar renowned as “The Rawalpindi Express” born on 13 August 1975 is a Pakistani former cricketer, commentator and youtuber.

  • Akhtar was one of the most lethal fast bowlers of his time.
  • He was also the first bowler to be recorded bowling at 100 miles per hour, and did so twice in his career.
  • He has record of total 444 international wickets under his name.
  • He has featured in 47 Tests, 163 ODIS and 15 T20Is for Pakistan during his illustration 14 year career period.
  • On 1 April, 2008 Akhtar was banned for five years for publicly criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board.
