Indian Institute of skills ( IIS) is going to set up in Gujarat

In Gujarat, the state government has asked the TATA group along to start a work on setting up Indian Institute of skills – ( IIS )

The Institute is being developed on a Not- for – profit public private partnership mode.

The IIS is being set up by Labour and Employment department along with TATA Group .

Gujarat government will set up Indian Institute of skills in Gandhinagar.

Government has allotted around 20 acre land for TATAs to start ( IIS ) , which is 20 km from Ahmedabad.

While the state government has provided land for the Institute , the TATA Education Development Trust is contributing the capital investment.

This Institute is expected to emerge as premier training institutions. on the lines of Indian Institutes Rahman of managements and Indian Institutes of technology and make vocational training aspirational for the youth.

In addition to Ahmedabad, the Union Government has also approved Indian Institution of skills in Mumbai and Kanpur.

The Vipul Mittra , additional chief secretary of Labour and Employment department, said in his statement that ;

“A minimum of of 5,000 students will pass out every year from the Institute five years after commencement of its Operation, with a target to provide placement to 70 % of the pass outs”.

The Indian Institutes of skills are aimed at providing training and developing highly skilled technical manpower to meet the demands of highly specialized areas such as focus on technology and manufacturing trades like:
