Athlete Hima Das : appointed as Deputy Superintendent of police

Recently, Athelete Hima Das has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police by Assam government.

  • Birth date : 9 January, 2000
  • Height : 5 feet 6 inch

Hima Das is also known as “Dhing Express” , a 20 year old Indian sprinter of Assam.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a meeting in his cabinet on Wednesday night, where a decision was taken to appoint world Championship sprinter Hima Das as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the State.

The cabinet also decided to amend the integrated sports policy of the state by appointing sports persons as officers in different department of the state like Police, Excise, Transport, etc.

Hima thanked Assam chief minister and former union sports Minister for the job, saying it will motivate her.

She became the first Indian woman indeed , the first ever Indian athelete to win a gold medal in any formate of global track event at IAAF world U20 championships .

Here , she clocked a speed of 51.46 seconds.

  • Hima conferred with Arjuna award by the president of India on September 25 , 2018.
  • She own a silver in woman’s 400 m in the 2018 Asian Games.
  • She won the 5th medal at the November Mesto Athletics Meet on July 20, 2019.
  • Hima participated in the world Athletics championship track competition and won.
  • Hima also joined the Asian Youth Championship in Bangkok and finished 7th in the 200 meter race.
  • Hima own gold in two events in Europe , also in kunto Athletics Meet, in the Czech Republic, and in the Tabor Grand Prix.

Recently , The Bannerghatta Biological Park named a tigress club’ Hima’ to honour Indian Athlete Hima Das.
