Arktika -M Satellite : First ever Arctic monitoring satellite

Russia successfully launched it’s first ever Arctic monitoring satellite “Arktika -M Satellite”.
This satellite is launched by Russian Space Agency Roscosmos, to monitor the Arctic’s climate and environment.
The space agency blasted off the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket which is also carrying the Arktika -M Satellite on board.
The rocket was blasted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on February 28, 2021.
The Arktika -M Spacecraft was launched to orbit later.
Economic development of the Arctic is one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s key goals.
This satellite is also be able to retransmit distress signals as part of international Cospas – Sarsat Satellite based search and rescue program.
